Hi guys I have started a new job, while seeing out my two weeks notice in my previous job. I was doing a few hours here and there but I officially started this Monday. My question is; I am due one last payday from my old job on Thursday which goes directly into my bank account and my new job will be paying by cheque on Tuesday will i be emergency taxed? All my new employer has asked for is my pps number?

it all depends on whether your new employer registered you and received the credits, cuts off, for you in time for them to run their payroll. However, the first 4 weeks of emergency tax still give you credits so its not too bad. Even though you have given your new employer your PPS number, don't rely on them to contact Revenue correctly on your behalf. best bet, is to contact Revenue yourself too. have your own PPS number and the new employer's registered number and tell Revenue you have changed jobs and want your credits assigned.
