Every year I normally hire out a good power petrol/diesel power washer to clean my driveway.

I wast just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this petrol washer that Aldi have for sale. Do you think it's worth the investment? I don't know enough about washers to know if it's any good or better/worse than the ones for hire!

Can't see it being worth it for what you're doing. I'd imagine it'll need a water barrel to run from, and it's probably a no name engine that you will spend longer trying to start than using.
An electric one won't have the same pressure but a 150bar electric will still do what you need easily.
Renting one for €25 a day or whatever they are these days would be far less risky.

They were around in Aldi 2 years ago for less.

Don't know but something persuaded me to buy a 'Work Zone Titanium' axe off Aldi a few weeks ago. I couldn't open the packaging to inspect the blade.

    It's crap. A glorified hatchet.

Isn't that what an axe is supposed to be though:)

You generally get what you pay for. (I'll rephrase that you generally do not get more than you paid for)
Questions come up about Aldi and Lidl products quite frequently.
Usually along the lines of how does the "€50" aldi/lidl compare to the"€500" Hitachi, Bosh, roibi etc. ...
As you might expect they fair badly in term of robustness and build quality but if not abused will often give good service for many years.
A 3kg long handled lump hammer is not a 14lb sledge, like wise a 2kg chopper is not a 7lb felling axe.

If looked after the Aldi washer will probably keep your drive clean for several years and will come in handy for the garden furniture etc. but it is not in the same league as something costing 10 times as much that will survive being dropped of the back of a van.

Oh I know this and I have various bits and pieces of Aldi/ Lidl stuff for occasional use, but still sometimes you get caught.

The biggest difference between these and the more expensive versions apart from the Chinese Honda clone engine is the pump.
Good power washers will have a Cat, Interpump or Annovi Reverberi pump as opposed to the small and lightly built ones on the Aldi versions.
Not only are they not rebuildable they also don't produce as much pressure as the better ones.
That said they are cheap and will usually work for a few years.

Bottom line is Aldi/Lidl products are purely for DIY purposes and are generally very good value in that class.
If you need Pro. stuff, it'll cost you appropriately.

Just picked one up . Haven't had time to fire it up yet but so far as regards quality.
-) the hosing is substandard to a Honda of similar pressure and flow capabilities. It states the maximum pressure on the hose is 300 bar , a bit to close to the delivery pressures. I has no outer steel braiding for protection and the hose can easily be bent in two with one hand .

I wouldn't waste time on buying the extension as it is the same .
I'll update in a week or so on the operational quality .
Iusually use a Honda version once a year so I'll be able to compare better .
The pump is significantly smaller than on the Honda
    Update

    Ok first run out today.

Louder than expected but not excessive. Ran it for 40 minutes and pressure is s tad lower than the rental ones but that could be the nozzle used . Overall it was fine for the work and for the money was a worthy Option n to a 1000 euro professional one .
I have an electric 1800 psi one for years but it was only ever used for delicate work only. To do large pavements or driveways of any medium size 3000 psi or higher with a good length flow rate is needed .
I didn't try the suction option today but the literature says performance can be down by 40 percent with the suction inlet is added .

As above posters said . Treat it carefully and it will probably last past its warranty easily .
