    But would 3.5 Lts be enough for 20 cows?

    It would if it could fill quickly enough. The only thing is if pipes freeze during a long cold spell like Christmas 2010 they'd be out of water whereas a bigger trough might have enough for a day if you broke the ice.

    I doubt that 3.5l is enough capacity for 20 cows maybe you could have two/three.
    According to the link they recommend that you use a header tank so depending on the volume of the header tank frost may not be a big issue. Winter temps like we had in 2010 were exceptional. The water supply to my house stopped at 3pm on Christmas Day and didn't come back until the 17th of Jan.
