Dole asking to verify

    Why would the dole ask someone to verify their phone number!!

    No, in office, they sent txt msg then asked to type in the pin and verified phone number. Just curious as to why they did this!

    It's becoming standard as part of the MyWelfare.ie thing. People are voluntarily strolling into Intreo offices looking to have their numbers verified. It's meant to cut down on identity theft. Some people then forget their phones and we have to post them out to them. I **** you not.
    Major pain in the arse for all sides of the bargain. Point being, it ain't just you.

    How was I to busy working to answer if I was in the dole office! If they had of phoned later maybe they'd have caught me working ;)

    Well we are all sorry we have to pay taxes so you can claim dole. So least you can do is give them your phone number, if you don't want to, then don't expect a payment.

    They just use it to send text messages reminding you of signing on dates or other appointments. It's nothing to worry about. :)

    That's a very nasty response. Is a person's entitlement to social welfare contingent on them providing a contact number? If it is then the OP is obliged to provide it, but if not then what's the problem?

    And stop being so bloody precious about paying tax. You're not the only one around here that has a job.
