Dangerous Driving

Hi,

My 82 year old dad lost concentration while driving which resulted in a crash. Nobody in the other car was injured and he's fine but my mother was badly injured and was treated in hospital.

Gardai finally came to take a statement and advised him he'll be charged with 'dangerous driving'. I'd have thought he might be charged with 'careless driving but it is what it is.

Gard advised him to get a solicitor and he'd be back to take a statement next week.

My dad has actually decided to stop driving since the accident so losing his licence won't be that much of a trauma for him. Is that all he's looking at or could there be a fine too?

Hope your mother is on the mend!! I know nothing of legal matters but hopefully if he sacrifices his license they'll leave it at that. Even having to go through a court case at that age would be awful.

Glad to hear both parents OK.
As they have been told he will be charged it would be better to leave it to his solicitor.
Further comment here might only upset your parents so am closing thread
