Why are there no quad copters for people yet?

Helicopters have been around a while, then the Chinook, but the safest design of them all has never been applied to human transport, why?

mechanical losses through 4 transmission sets rather than 1 or 2 plus much more maintenance for no real gains on a full size rig would be the main reasons I suspect.

Additional weight, complexity and cost.


Quadropters exist to make something small controllable. This isn't a problem with large helicopters.

It's a quad, with 8 propellers, still a quad, 4 arms.

As I understand most big single rotor helicopters have twin engines, so would be much safer than a quad copter as failure of a single engine would destabilise it.

I think the Helicopter Industry in conjunction with skull and bones
have subdued the Quad Copter.

what have the number of arms got to do with it?, they don't generate the lift, a Chinook has no arms and is still a tandem rotor craft
