    Hi all

I'm learning to drive, and i've got the hang of the actual driving pretty much, now I just need to prefect things like manoeuvring the car into a tight space and reversing around a corner, etc.

I have my own car, the only problem is that I have no one to take me out driving. Would a driving instructor take me out in my own car, bearing in mind in still not perfect in the road, and would slightly nervous going out with a stranger without the safety of the dual-controlled car?

It would depend on your ADI and how comfortable they feel with your skilll level (and your car being up insured, NCT valid etc) - but it's something that certainly is allowed.

My sister was never comfortable in the instructors car and did most of her lessons in her own. So it's not unheard of, certainly worth asking an instructor and then see what way it can be planned out.

Most certainly, I'd say any ADI will take you out in your own vehicle.

none of my 3 kids drove the instructors car - the instructor always went in the family car with the learner. once the tax, insurance, nct are all valid I've never come across an instructor who wouldn't do this.

Yep they should have no issue with it at all, I remember my instructor suggesting it to me at the time before my test.

But I said no because I didn't want to pay for petrol :pac:
