    Hi all,

I have a 2002 Opel Astra which makes a loud vibrating noise, for lack of a better term, while I'm driving straight or steering to the right, but not while steering to the left. Any ideas what it could be?

    Thanks

    Wheel bearing?
    Damaged tyre or wheel?

    Is the engine light on?

First of all make sure your wheel nuts are tight. Does the noise increase/decrease with your speed? if you coast along with the car out of gear is it still there?

Thanks for the replies lads, it's much appreciated. I'll have a closer look at it at the weekend, although I'm something of a novice when it comes to DIY aside from the basics.

I would've thought the wheel bearing was the most likely cause.

It's not - nothing out of the ordinary as regards engine temperature etc. either.

Wheel nuts are ok. The noise does seem to increase with speed and is there regardless of whether I'm in gear or not.

Could be anything really without getting to look at it myself, but most likely a wheel bearing.
Try jack up the car and spin the wheel and see if your can track the noise. (don't get under the car without and axel stand though;))
