No central heating...

Would it be possible to heat a very energy efficient home (small 3 beds) without any central heating?

I'm thinking about using a wood burning stove (without a back boiler) and a heat recover ventilation system, which would in theory spread the heat around the home. I would have electric heaters for odd occasions. Do people think this is a good idea?

youre describing what is commonly referred to as a "passive house" and there are many many examples of how this is done.
