Just wondering if anyone has any ideas. I do have a guy coming out on Friday but this will be his second time.

I bought a brand new dishwasher and since the get-go it hasnt worked properly. One of the things is i will run a wash, and then a day or so later the bottom of it is filled up with water. What 'I' think is happening is when i run the tap in the sink, its filling up the dishwasher with the dirty water. But i am not the expert.
    Is this possible and how?

Dishwasher repair guy has already been out, told me it was a faulty valve and it was dripping and this is why it was full of water. He replaced the valve and its still doing it. He checked it was installed correctly as they didnt install it. It was.

Is what I am thinking even possible and how? Ive had two handy men look at it, and then eventually rang where i bought it and they came out as its only a few weeks old.

I think I see part of the problem right there. Hopefully they didn't charge you for not fixing it.

Could be the solenoid valve on the water inlet is leaking or its backfilling through the discharge pipe. The discharge pipe may be blocked or the pump may be faulty.
Try get the manufacturer's own tech guy out to look at it. If it's a problem with the machine then it should be covered by warranty, but if its not installed correctly they will charge you for the call out.

Yes it is possible for water from the sink to drain into the dishwasher, if both the sink and dishwasher share the same waste connection. To prevent this the flexible drain hose from the dishwasher should be routed so that it rises right up to the underside of the worktop before dropping down to tee into the sink waste. There should be a plastic bracket that clips onto the flexible hose and holds it in an inverted 'U' shape. The bracket can be screwed into the wall to make sure the hose stays in position. See here
