Austin 10 Fuel primer

My brother has a 1937 Austin 10. It is supposed to have a manual fuel primer for ''tickling'' the carb but it is missing/not on his.

Can anyone recommend an inline replacement that could be pressganged into use, as, if the car is stood for a while all the fuel runs back into the tank and makes starting rather difficult.

As I write this I am also thinking maybe a one way valve in the fuel line might work.

    Any suggestions gratefully received.
