Birth certificate for welfare claim

In order to be named as an IQA on my partner's JB payment I was told that I would need to provide my birth certificate to the local Intreo office.

Can anyone confirm what form this must take?

I do not actually possess the original of my birth certificate. I do, however, have what looks to be a photocopy of a version that was reissued a number of years ago and a letter of authentication, but the reissued certificate is not printed on the special watermarked paper that the accompanying letter mentions. This leads me to suspect that the document was copied again at some point. I presume that this will not be valid for the purposes of my claim.

I know that a new copy can be obtained for welfare purposes for the cool price of €1 but this requires a special letter from the Intreo office and, therefore, yet another largely pointless trip back there. I have already attended the office four times and would prefer not to return unless it is definitive.

You generally need an original or a reissue not a photo copy.
