Jury Service - Exemption after having served?

Hi, I would like to know if there is an exemption period after having been called and accepting jury service? I think in the UK you are automatically exempted for 3 years if you accept and attend, whether or not it goes to trial. Is there something similar in Ireland too?
I'm the primary carer for 2 young children. Last year I was called for jury service and applied and received an exemption on these grounds.
I was thinking I might attend this time and hope not to be called (i.e. can leave at lunchtime) to gain any exemption. If called, then explain I have young children and need to be at home by 3.30pm when they finish school.

Automatic exemption only applies for 3 years if you attended and served as a juror.

Otherwise you need to request the exemption again. You can request the exemption prior to attending the court via the county registrar or ask the judge to excuse you if called upon, but it's not guaranteed you will be exused, however more likely you will be when you show a genuine reason.
