This is my first year commuting regularly by bike. I have just gone over 5000kms so far and expect to do 6000 by year end.
Am on Trek 1.5 doing a 40km round trip per day averaging 4 days per week.
Is this average? What are other commuters doing?

I'm at the 6,000km mark - allowing for holidays etc. Bog standard btwin triban, 14km each way, 5 days a week.

20kms each way all year so

    365 - 104 (weekends) - 10 (public holidays) - 30 (holidays) = 221 working days.

say 215 to allow a few days missed

    so 215 X 40 = 8600kms

Usually about 6kms each way everyday on my vintage steed, reckon it'd amount to at least 3000kms a year

2-4km (depending how early I wake up) each way, pretty small fry compared to some others :o

40k each day , 5 days a week, rain, hail or shine.

Our office is moving to the airport so I'll have about 75km each day.

    As a contractor, I'd reckon on working 230 days per year, so 230 x 52 ~= 12k

I tried 66 per day for about six months. Come the weekend, I just wanted to lay on the floor, unmoving...

Commute 150km per week so on average over 7000 per year on a Trek 2.1.

    46km per day.. 4 days a week.

    48 weeks of the year.

    Total 8,832 km per annum

That excludes some weekend cycles and a few races.

Probably hitting close to 10,000km for the year

I cycle 16 k one way almost each day on a Hybrid and a old Cannondale Super V since four years. Ends in somewhere between 5500 to 6500 km per year.
