    Hi there.
Me and my girlfriend just got engaged and we want a wedding outdoor with tipies. I was wondering anyone could recomend me where to hire them, as well as a venue where to put it up. We planning to invite 150 people so we need quite a big tipi.

I've heard they can be very expensive, I know in my venue there had been a couple that rented a tipi style tent for 18k - obviously that's the higher end of the market!

Not exactly what you are asking for but check out Ballyvolane House. They offer "glamping" for wedding guests and it's a great looking venue.

Doh, just realized you want it as a marquee.... if you're in the south, could be worth looking at Inish Beg. They have a cool large semi-permanent marquee there.

when i got engaged i had my heart set on a tipi. Sadly once I actually looked into it, I realised there was no way we could afford it. Neither of us have any land, so would have had to hire out a private venue with accommodation and reception rooms (in case of bad weather) as well as putting up the tipi and paying for caterers, toilets etc.
The ones we looked at were Tipi Faoi na Realtai, Magna Kata and Silk Road Tents. All of them are gorgeous and the people we met at Magna Kata were really nice and helpful. For 150 people you would need a couple of 'giant hat' tipis put together.
I also contacted Leixlip Manor as it is in St Catherine's Park with beautiful gardens. In theory they are open to having a tipi on site, but your wedding would have to be midweek on a day where there is no wedding the previous day (as the tipi takes a day to erect). I can't remember all the other places I contacted who said no to having one on their grounds!! If you're willing to go up north, I think Magna Kata are putting up a permanent tipi on a lakeside somewhere up the north.

When we put all the costs together for approx 150 people it was working out as 15,000 euro without food, drink etc....just for the tipi and the venue hire.

So I do wish you good luck with it but i would seriously consider cutting your numbers right down or thinking about finding a relative with a field!! If you can pull it off it's really amazing and I wish we could have done it :)

Plankton saved me a lot of typing!
It works out as crazy money. The people we were looking at were Magnakata in the North and there is a crowd called faoi na realta based in the midlands.
Maybe somewhere like Mount Druid could fit the bill instead?

Here is the link to Magnakata, including their prices for variety of layouts. I was photographing a wedding in their tipis recently and the tent looked very solid.
    Magnakata

My couple was very happy, they are very professional, but the price is not cheap, especially for all the extras and delivery.

    I hope it helps you!

Honestly if you can afford it and if you have somewhere to put it, go for it. I would have loved to do it. If you have the weather it would be amazing and inside the tent is beautifully cosy, romantic and unique....just be aware of the slog involved with the process!
