Your opinions on some new PC bits?

Can't edit other threat OP or it's title, so made a new one.

Hey all,
Brought over some bits of my old PC to Canada;
CPU: 3.4GHz 15-4670K
RAM: 8GB (2 DIMMs of 1600Mhz Corsair)
GPU: GeForce GTX 760 - H:4.5" L:10.25"
SSD: 120GB and 500GB
Mouse: Razer Deathadder 2013

Shall be using it for mainly ARMA3, and photo processing, with the odd video encoding.

Don't need a Windows license as have a legit license, and shall be using some 19" pos monitor until I can get a cheapish 24" monitor.

Thinking of getting the following;


EVGA SuperNOVA 550 CDN$ 109.53
Corsair 400r Mid Tower Case CDN$ 106.85
Gigabyte LGA 1150 Intel B85 CDN$ 84.99
An 1150 socket Noctua. Gotta find one with a backplate. Not going for stock, as it gets fairly effing hot during the summer! Budget is cheap as possible, but no substandard bits.

In Toronto, so newegg.ca etc, is also an option.

Going for 550W PSU as I'll probably be upgrading stuff later, and will probably be keeping the case and PSU if I do.

You want the Supernova G2, not the GS. It's only CA$2 more.

Get a Z97 motherboard; B85 chipset cannot overclock your CPU at all.

I'm aware of the B85 limitations, but unfortunately it's $55 more. Shall consider it, though; I think I had a H97 motherboard when I was in Ireland.

My only fear is that it'd be a real tight fit, as although the dimensions of the case is 8.1"/20.574cm there's an inch of space behind the motherboard plate, so that goes down to 7.1"/18.034cm as the specs say that it's heigh (without fans) is 165cm.

CanadaComputers are a local store, so could probably buy the above in the shop, and Uber home. Considering doing local, as Amazon may just drop stuff at the door/inside a porch, and I may never get it. Prices are roughly the same.

With a BIOS update this MSI B85 board can overclock K-series Haswell CPUs, I've a 4690K running at 4.6GHz+ on it.

Window thing ain't my thing, but it doesn't look bad.

/edit; maybe not. No optical drive, which I need for burning boot discs, and if giving files to someone that I don't plan on seeing again.

Would you consider the ARCTIC COOLING Liquid Freezer 120 for a cpu cooler and maybe the Phanteks Enthoo pro case?

I think they both fit in your budget and are pretty well reviewed.

Getting that cooler. Also liking the case, both that it has the front panels (I'll be putting an optic drive in at some stage), and also that it has a decent amount of room in it.

Got the ASRock Z97 Anniversary. It was discounted to $109.88 from $129.88 and had a mail-in rebate of $40, so in the end it'll only cost $69.88 (well, $79 after tax is added) when I get my money back. Not too shabby.

Keeping an eye out for on the Supernova G2 PUS and the Phantek Enthoo Pro case. Shall pop around Chinatown later to hunt for a deal.
