Nissan Micra 07 (braking while indicating)

My fathers car is a automatic 07 Micra. Today he notice something very strange when only indicating left at over 80 km/h. The car starts to brake in short periods of every half second even without touching the brake pedal. It only happens when the steering wheel is turning to the left to change lane. It doesn't happen at low speeds.

Also the indicater on the dash speeds up while under braking. When the car is stationary and the left indicator is on, the back brake light flashes also but brakes are not engaging. So brakes are only turning on at speed. This is a weird one.

I will bring it down to the mechanics tomorrow. Anyone ever hear of this?:confused:

This sounds like a wiring fault at the rear tail lamp, often caused by water ingress. It can short out different circuits, in this case the indicator and brake light and cause an odd light display when either brake is pressed or inbdicator switched.

please mount a padre pio sticker in the upper left corner of the windscreen, if the issue is not resolved, one in the rear window should solve it.

Check that the rear brake light bulbs are correct. I.e., that there isn't a single filament bulb in place of a double filament bulb. If the bulbs are correct, check the earth connections on the rear lamps. That is usually the problem with the lights. The brake coming on by themselves is a new one for me.

The brakes sound like an ABS problem.

Cheers for the advice. Does sound like a ABS issue. Faulty chip or whatever.

The brake light flashing is probably an indication of an earth problem in or around the lamp housing....or a short between the lamp and switch...

Most cars I see in the road the indicator won't work until the brake pedal is pressed. This sounds unusual.
