Hi, looking for advice on accom in New York from 31st December to January 3rd. Leaning towards air bnb as hotels are very expensive. Has anyone got any experience of staying in apartments through air bnb? Near subway would be important. New years eve is very expensive , after that is reasonable.

Airbnb and short term lets are illegal on Manhattan. Taking a big risk imo

Keep an eye on sites where folks offload hotel reservations they can't use.

This. I considered using Airbnb for a recent visit to NY but decided against it when I read about some of the regulations. Just not worth the risk.
