If this is not the forum for this just lock it, don't move it. Thanks.

    Hi,

Say someone says they were raped and then through...pain/humiliation has a relationship with the rapist to...i don't know, in their mind get back some control or change the perception of what happened...people do do this, yes?

Google says a short-lived event, such as rape could be enough to trigger Stockholms (Yes?).

Would someone hide this rape and relationship from their own partner/family over the long term?

Now say the rapist dies, would the abused person still hide what had happened, mourn the death and still speak well of the person months later?

Do people affected with Stockholm Syndrome remain so after the perpetrator has been removed from their lives?

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. The whole episode can be rationalised and form part of the ego. The person may well need therapy to overcome their conflicting emotions - but do they want it? Would they seek it?
