If you're a Vodafone customer and trade in an old Irish rugby shirt in a Vodafone shop they'll give you a 50% discount code off the newest Ireland rugby shirt. (Numbers are limited so be quick) All shirts handed in go to charity

WTF, €80 for a stupid shirt!

Even €60 is a little steep. So basically they have bumped the price up to €80, so they can "offer" 25/50% off.

Of course they will then have increased the baseline for jerseys to €80 for future years. A very smart way to massively increase the price of a product without causing too much complaining!

They haven't bumped the price to offer 25% off. It's €80 in every shop I have seen it in. IRFU online also have it for €80. It may not be for you but if saves someone €20 then it's a good discount.

So it's €40 with the 50% discount? That's not awful for a new rugby Jersey, usually they're made with good materials and last a long time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,299 ✭✭✭F34

It's €44 inc delivery and you have to bring in an old Jersey to get the 50% off

I mean bump the price compared to last year. They were certainly around €60 last year when I was looking at them.

This is a very clever trick companies pull all the time to increase prices.

45 is a bit of a rip for a "half price Jersey" since you have to give in one also and go through some hoops.

Needs to be about 15e cheaper

I read the terms and conditions of this offer when I got the text yesterday, and while the text said 50% off, the terms and conditions said free.
I wonder if it's worth chancing your arm?

On my mobile so I can't at the moment, just checked again and it's still saying free jersey, no mention of 50% off. Link to term is here; http://https://www.vodafone.ie/terms/comp/index.jsp#current-offers

In the store now, voucher says 50%, the sales rep says that must be a mistake on the website that has to be fixed.
I'm not too annoyed good deal either way!

Edit: The vodafone-canterbury page to claim the offer appears to be down, anyone else having trouble?

Are the terms not saying it's a free "50% off voucher" rather than a free jersey?

if Vodafone want me to wear a shirt with their logo, they can give me a 75% discount on my phone bill. Until then, I'll stick to my no-logo world cup 2007 2011 jersey.

Same here. It's old, heavy, faded and shabby but it's from a golden era. I traded an old puma one.
I don't think the staff looked at my jersey when trading so even a "fake" will do.
I think they are going to an African charity.

Got a text this afternoon that they were offering the half price jersey with no swap needed, keep your old jersey.

Vodafone is Douglas knew nothing about it so didn't have any code to give me for the offer.
Took a punt and went to vodafone Wilton where to my surprise they said ya, we can give you the offer. Guy said only a few customers were getting this new text offer and in fact himself and the other employees there hadn't even got it. Said I was just lucky.

Not sure why the offer is random and the guy in the shop couldn't offer any explanation.

What number is that text from? Im on Voda but havent got that text (yet) but could chance my arm and show them a screenshot or do up the text myself, or do they do a proper check to see if your eligible?

Dont fancy giving them one of my old puma jerseys but would get the jersey at half price with no swap

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,599 ✭✭✭ScrubsfanChris

It's Vodafone's standard number, cant look it up on the phone. Same number you get top up confirmations and all the other vodafone offers from.

He just had one glance of the text and put the phone down, After that all he wanted was my full name and number. You could possible even mention the text to them and say you left your phone in the car or at home or something. Its not like there is any special code or number in the text.

Does the kit have to bought from a Vodafone store or what's the craic with this offer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,110 ✭✭✭Sarn

I got the text earlier as well. 50% off, no trade in required.

Yes, you have to buy it from the link they give you. Its a dedicated Web page but I think it's connected to the IRFU shop. So its + €4 for delivery
