Cork Primary - Foxwood / Phadraig Naofa

My child has been offered a place in Foxwood Primary School (Scoil Phadraig Naofa) and I'd like to know as much info as possible; the good, the bad, any info really as I know nothing at this stage.

I do know that I find it hard to get in contact with them and that is a bit of a worry, especially in the afternoon as it's after school hours. Most other primary schools will pick up the phone after school hours but with foxwood it's answering machine at 2.15.

Why on earth do you think someone should be answering the phone after the school closes?Would you use that a criterion for choosing a bank or a dentist?

Thanks Almighty Moderator, you've just turned my thread completely off topic with your reply.

First of all, I just mentioned the one thing that I do know about the school. If other schools seem more approachable by being available to discuss things outside of their busy school hours it does make a difference to me and this thread is in fact here to help me make a decision. I mentioned it specifically so that people who have information can reply to my concern.

And in reply to your question, if most banks were contactable until 6pm and one was only contactable until 2pm, then yes I would of course use that criterion as one of the factors when choosing my bank.

It's quite clear you do not have any information about the school, so I'd appreciate it if you did not reply on this thread again.

Personally I've found primary schools hit and miss when it comes to answering the phone.
What I've done in the past is send an email requesting they ring me when they can.
    Best of luck

If you have an issue with my posting, please feel free to report it.
And I certainly can and will post where I like , just like everyone else on this site, unless told by a mod NOT to do so, following the warning system.

The best way of getting a feel for the school, is by making an appointment to visit the school and ask the school the questions that are of interest to you and your circumstances.

I have to say that I too, was a bit surprised by the comment about the answering machine. If you cannot or do not wish to telephone before 2.15 pm, your best bet is to email the school. I just had a quick look at their website and their email details are available there.

On sites like this, it can be pot luck. You could meet two people, one who has had an amazing experience and another who may, for some reason, have a gripe. It could be the one who has had the gripe who responds to you.

Personally, if you have not already asked for a visit to the school, had the opportunity to speak to the principal and had the opportunity to have your questions answered, then I would do that, as the best means of informing my decision.
