getting a second cat

    Hi!

We adopted a cat last year when we lived in an apartment and then six months ago moved to a house. Despite intending and wanting her to be an indoor cat (she was found feral abandoned in a wood), she is much happier inbetween (she once jumped off a third floor balcony).

Anyway, she's had free rein to come and go as she pleases since we moved to the house.

I have always wanted a particular pure bred cat (please don't judge, I do my bit believe me) but this cat cannot be an outdoor cat under any circumstances (very fine coat and cold sensitive).

Has anyone been in this situation? We could let our cat out in the morning and then back in at dinner time and keep the other cat indoors but that seems cruel to our cat.

    Thanks in advance,

    P

You can get magnetic cat flaps that only open when a cat wearing a magnetic collar approaches it. You also get one's that only work for cats with the correct microchip numbers.

thanks cherry blossom. unfortunately, we're renting atm (own the apartment but have outgrown it).

That'll be the plan in a couple of years when we get our house.

I could segregate them indoors but don't want to do that.

I'd say than you simply have to wait.
