I'm recently after buying a house it was built around 1983-4 it currently has an oil burner in it which I'd imagine needs upgrading but I don't want that to be the main source of heat in the house we have anot existing fireplace already there and was thinking of putting in a double sided back boiler stove but open to any other ideas thanks in advance

It all depends how you are going to live in the house? If you are there all the time then you may have different requirements to someone who works long hours.

Neighbours have a stove that can heat the whole house previous owner religious kept it going all the time but new owners never use it.

Then there's insulation to think about.

I work long hours but there's someone in the house nearly the hole time, I'm getting the attic pumped with foam and down the line I'll be getting the beads in the walls and also getting a rated windows installed soon so I'm hoping the house should be well insulated anyone any thoughts on the attic been foam insulated also
