Instagram War

You could be forgiven for thinking that the purpose of Instagram is to share photos of yourself and your horrible-looking dinner with your friends. You could also be forgiven for thinking that the purpose of Instagram is to effectively photoshop dog ears and a dog nose on to your head, or a yellow crown of flowers. What you might not actually know is that Instagram is a very effective weapon in the psychological warfare that exists between a former couple.

I know this because I was browing the Instagram accounts of my little sister and former boyfriend recently. I regularly do this, but it's usually futile because both of their profiles tend be blocked in an effort to keep out lurkers such as myself. Having your account on private is basically like closing the curtains on your social media activity, but both parties didn't so much draw their proverbial curtains this week as they ripped the entire rail down. The gloves are off.

Both of them had one another blocked, but what's the best way to save face by maintaining the block, while letting your ex see what you've been up to? You guessed it. You remove the privacy setting and make them very, very jealous. I capitalised this of course and started browsing both of their accounts. What did I find? Both of them have been taking very subtle digs at one another through the medium of QUOTES.

She puts a picture of these words up: "I admire people who choose to shine even after all the storms they've been through." But he needs a riposte. "Being honest may not get you a lot of friends but it'll get you the right ones," he responds with. Bear in mind these two retards can see what they're both putting up. There's been a quote and a riposte every day since last Tuesday.

She came back strong though, my sister. She's a devious wagon in fairness, because recently she puts up a snap of her wearing bowling shoes. She's 22 and has as much business being in a bowling alley as she does a football stadium - unless of course she's there on a date. Was she? No, she was there with her female friend, who I'm pretty certain has been used as a pawn in this war, but he thinks she's there with some lad and that's the point.

I don't condone her latest strike in this war of small-scale, subtle actions, but he did cheat on her and then break it off by text, after nearly two years of being in a relationship, so he's a c*nt. He may also be a sociopath, however, so she will lose this war I'm afraid. You don't beat sociopaths when it comes to psychological warfare.

As of right now he has not come back, but his account is still available to the public so he's probably plotting something - or maybe he hasn't seen it. Who the f*ck knows. She probably thinks she has the upper hand, but this is merely the calm before the storm. She won the battle with her latest post, but the war is going to rage for a long, long time I'm guessing.
