I have auto lock turned on which works fine when I drive off but am trying to get it to auto lock when I exit and walk away - Is it not equipped with this function ??

No car that I know of does this.

Usually there's a button on the door handle. Otherwise your passengers would be trapped if you got out.

Aftermarket alarms can do it, I agree, not seen it as OEM.

Most OEM will just re-lock after a time if you unlock using the fob but don't actually open a door.

I had a replacement 161 Clio for 3 days and once I removed the keycard , got out and started to walk away it auto locked with an audible beep which I thought was handy - there are plenty of cars fitted with this function - it's called "Handsfree Keycard" - I was wondering if the 141 model had same.

Oh. Wasn't aware they would lock by you simply walking away.

Quick Google says it's been available on the Clio since at least 2012.

Didn't realise you were talking about a keycard as opposed to a fob. In that case it should lock.

Looking at them, the ones with handsfree card also have buttons and sensors on the door handles. They also can start without putting the keycard in the slot.

Not 100% sure but I think that the base model, the Expression, may not have the lock when walking away feature, do you have the expression or Dynamique?

    Dynamique

But the replacement car that I had was also same - Dynamique as my own - Do you think that it could be as simple as upgrading my keycard or does this system need to be fitted as an extra.

Do you have a button on the door? Can you start the car without inserting the key?

Try this, stop using the lock button on your key card......open your car with the unlock button on your key card, get in, start car, turn off , get out, close door and walk away, see does it lock automatically

Tried what you asked just now but doesn't seem to work - I don't think the vehicle is equipped - There are no buttons on doors just handles - I think I'll just have to be happy with the driving away auto lock as I only found out how to enable it a few days ago. Thanks anyway guys for the input - appreciate it.

We have a 12 reg Megane GT Tourer that has this feature - there are no buttons on the outside of the doors.

What there is is a sensor inside the handle 'well'. If car is locked, key card in pocket, just put your hand on the handle and it unlocks. You don't press or pull handle for it to happen.

When you walk away you'll hear it lock as well as a beep from the car and see the mirrors fold in.

Was very sceptical of it at first, but now think it's great.

Look on the outside of the door, in the well behind the handle - there should be what looks like a small black plastic "button". This is the sensor that detects the presence of your hand just as you go to use the handle.

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

I think the base ones may have a plastic bit on the door anyway. I seem to remember the Meganes having these that did nothing.
The clios have a button as far as I can tell.
