So my mothers local exchange has never ever had any kind of broadband. Dial up or a 3G dongle are the only options.
But the local exchange which is 3 miles away is currently in the process of going live for Efibre.
Now I know she won't get the fibre but will this mean that she will be able to pick up some kind of signal from the exchange. Even 3 - 6 mbps would good compared to what she has.
Eir are trying to pawn off FMS 4G on me saying they can't guarantee any signal.
Just wondering what people's opinions are.

    Thanks in advance :)

Ballydesmond. While technically it's in County Cork it's Kerry phone numbers etc if that makes a difference?

    My own exchange. :)

eFibre has been enabled in Ballydesmond since July 20th. Have you tried putting her number into the line checker to see if it brings back a positive result? As far as I know basic DSL has also been enabled (Ballydesmond was phone only before July 2016.)

:) Hi neighbour....So I rang Eir today and they ran a line test and nothing is showing up. I checked the map and it said Fibre within 6 weeks so just assumed it wasn't live yet. Now the only thing I can think of is that her line (phone) is disconnected and maybe that's why it's not showing up. Surely only being 3 miles from the village she should be able to pick up DSL..Not expecting massive speeds - just enough to keep her going. Satellite broadband is a joke for the download limit so we are trying to avoid that at all costs.

If the line is out of service more than a year it can be fully disconnected. She needs to order a new one to get a rating yhen order broadband.

Btw if she's out on her own there's a chance they could refuse it.

Seeing as this is my local exchange and I know the area fairly well, I sent you a PM.
