Really stinky kitten poo

We have a lovely not so little boy kitten, he was a stray so not sure exactly how old he is but we reckon he is about 4 mths or so...anyway I am astonished just how bad his poops are! Like we've had loads of pets in the past but this little fella who is now called 'Pookie' out does all of them by a clear marathon! The vet says it could be the food, he refuses to eat the dry stuff at all. Any ideas? A friend of mine recommended a dose of plain yogurt with active cultures but i'm not sure this is the right way to go. Any ideas would be so very welcome...Oh and he has been checked out and is very healthy.

What food is he on? The quality of the food can make a huge difference to the smell. Some thing with high meat content that will be digested better than something that's full of fillers that'll just pass out the other end will result with smaller less stinky poos! Even if it's only the wet stuff he's on, check out zooplus.ie for good quality foods, something like bozita, feringa, Lily's kitchen..
Also the type of litter you use can have a big impact. I thought my guys were pretty non smelly in the litter department, using Tesco wood chip litter, until I changed to okos world best litter and the difference was unreal!
Oh edited to add - does he get any milk to drink? If so, cut this out right off cause that'll make the poops a lot smellier, cats are lactose intolerant!
I'm sure others will be along with more suggestions :)

spot on advice - our cat is on bozita from zooplus, and we use the bozita too.

In saying that, you do know when you need to clean the tray, but it's bearable for sure

Yep all of the above.. Our chap was the same he reaked!! Tried the sachets of the reg foods like kitty kat, Whiskers and well like you say youd run a mile after he went to do his business, rotten.. I used to give him rice and chicken and then for convenience more that anything started to order from Zoo Plus..

I get the Royal Canine Sensible 33 for him loves that as a dry food, it isn't too dry.
Cans then of Cosma Nature - it is more or less chicken in a can. Great value for money as they only need a small bit.
Tried Bozita too and he liked it at the start but then went off it I think it was too heavy for him

Are they solid? Some cats seem to be naturally smellier than others but good quality food seems to help. Both of mine are on smilla tins which can be got from zooplus.ie. The young one is still a lot smellier than the older one but shes a lot worse when she gets whiskas. A covered tray might help with keeping the smells confined until you can clean it. I find the wood pellets useless for smells, I use clumping litter.

I give mine natural yogurt about once a week, they love it.
We have a stinker here too, it's the worst I ever smelled, she was rescued and handed back after a couple of weeks, I'm guessing the smell, she uses the litter tray upstairs in bathroom, and we can smell if downstairs at other end of the house. Have her on grain free bozita and taste of the wild, that helped, thankfully she mostly goes while outside now.
