At the moment I have some Tesco Finest Colombian when I need it and it's grand. Tesco Finest is the best I've found for price point to quality for instant coffee.

I can only echo what others have said though, invest in an Aeropress or French Press... you can still use them at work and the coffee will be infinitely better than anything instant even if you're buying pre-ground beans. You can get an Aeropress on Amazon UK for €26 now (haha @ Brexit). After the initial investment of €26 the price will be the same as instant but flavour x100 better.

    Hi Emma,

Generally I don't mind a thread bump but a 9yo bump for this isn't really appropriate so I've opened a new thread.

Yea ridiculous I know but I was ate here b4 cause there was a thread already up ;) lol

Ha! It's not easy. It does get easier with time and familiarity with the various forums, they're all slightly different though.

I wouldn't ate ya though, I'm too polite!

Tried a good few instants for work but always go back to Carte Noir.

Carte Noir is drinkable. Anything else IMO is rotten.

Have you thought about getting a small french press or an aeropress? I have worked in a good few offices where people had small french presses for making coffee. I personally couldnt drink instant coffee long term

    Nescafe Avera is my favourite.

Millicano is my favourite instant coffee. It can be expensive but its often on offer in the bigger supermarkets. I just keep my eyes open and stock up when its half price.

The new lavazza instant is the best I have tasted. Its about 6.80 a go and you just have to get used to the ground coffee floaty bits in the cup.

I was going to ask if there was such a thing as a good instant but the nicer side of me likes millicano.

I need to order some more "real coffee" from somewhere.

The Aeropress is very work-friendly ... Just sayin :)

As instant goes, the blue kenco is grand. Trying in vain to get work to buy a nespresso machine

I don't know really as I buy the americano only.
I've had the intenso at a friends and thought it lovely. I've never had the espresso.
    Sorry I'm not more help

We got one of the commercial machines for 'free' but we have to buy a set amount of capsules each month. Think it is something like 8 a day. Might be worth a look?
Coffee quality previously was Maxwell House (possibly the worst instant coffee ever invented)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,157 ✭✭✭Zelda247

    Kenko smooth for me.

I have to agree Maxwell house the worst instant coffee ever!

Nescafe Azera is the only show in town when it comes to instant imo. And I hate Nestle!!

yeah, i've used them all and the americano gets my vote,it's the smoothest. definitely a stronger taste to the espresso, but not in a way i found enjoyable. the differences aren't huge, but enough i'd usually pick up the americano if the choice is there

I hate starbucks but their instant coffee is drinkable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 868 ✭✭✭Boardnashea

French press all the way. I can do a reasonable cappuccino with one too. Aeropress will give you a bit more variation is strength of brew.

Please don't go near disposable plastic caps. Biggest waste of space IMO. And all the packaging. Banned now in some countries I believe.

The Lavazza Prontissimo is good, and I like it better than the Nescafe Azerra now.

    Question though

The Azerra is 5% grounds, and there are 2 Lavazza; Intenso is 10% grounds and Medio is 20% grounds.

I can't work out which is supposed to be "better"

The Intenso (10%) Lavazza is a black can with gold trim, and the Medio (20%) Lavazza is a black tin with white trim.

Both have been in special (~€3.80) the last while.
