Fixing Windows 7 WGA

    Hi,
I've a version of Windows 7 that's had the WGA removed with RemoveWAT.
It's had the Windows 10 free update queued for the last while and is still there now.
I've gotten an unused Win 7 Pro serial from work so now want to register that in Windows 7 and then maybe do a proper update to Windows 10.

However, I tried reversing the changes that RemoveWAT made, with no luck!
My options are to keep trying to fix it, or wipe Windows and do a clean install.

The clean install is probably ideal, as it will require less messing, but I'm curious as to whether it will keep the Windows 10 "queued" install. I know Windows 10 stores some kind of hardware profile for easier reinstalls, but does the same apply to the update within Windows 7? IF so, I can do the clean install no problem. If not, I'll have to try restore WGA another way.

    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks.

You can clean install Windows 10 and use your 7 key if you like. This will create the digital entitlement. If you want to upgrade, you should still be able to. If it doesn't activate due to the WAT crack, just activate it after the upgrade with the 7 key.

Are you sure I can use the 7 key to activate? I thought the free upgrade from 7 to 10 was over, which I understand to mean that Win 7 keys no longer work in 10.

Another question, the CPU and motherboard of this PC is gettin on. If I install Windows 10 and upgrade later, is that still OK in terms of the hardware signature that will be registered with this serial? Or should I hold off upgrading the OS until I do the hardware upgrade?

Since Vista, the only thing I've seen that triggers a reactivation is a motherboard replacement. The rest seems OK.
