Household Benefits Package while on Disability Allowance

A friend of mine has been on Disability for over a year following long-term hospitalization. She's home now and lives alone on Disability. She has no income other than that. Should she be eligible for the Household Benefits Package? My reading of what it says on the SW site is that she should have been receiving this all along.

Yes but she does have to apply for it.

Thanks. She didn't know she was eligible. She has just spoken to Social Welfare Services and they said she was entitled to the benefits, and possibly also a Free Travel Pass.

Such a pity that she has missed out on these benefits for over a year. I wonder if there is any chance that they would backdate them even if only for a few months.

Unfortunately it's up to the person themselves to be aware of what they are entitled to.
