I was aware that Pullandbang was a NILMDTS volunteer photographer. This year at People's Photography we talked about it and he encouraged me to apply.

I have just recieved confirmation that my application was successful.

You can find out more about NILMDTS on their website. It is definitely not for everyone and their standards are set quite high. You have to pay to apply and if accepted pay to be a volunteer. You then do the work for free and give the images away. The value is, I imagine, in the giving something to help a grieving family.

There are quite a few NILMDTS photographers in Ireland. I have looked and I will be only the sixth one in Australia.

Congrats - I envy your strength.

I would have nowhere near the technical competence for this but even if I did I don't know if I'd be able to do it.

Edit: Congrats feels like the wrong word when discussing such tough things. I mean fair play to you for putting yourself out there to do it. It's kind of you to put your own emotions on the line to help others.

Having worked in Hospitals for many years and you get used to putting stuff aside and concentrating on the task.

Know what you mean about "Congrats" but I am pleased to be able to do this.

Well done. It's a service that is really cherished by the family.
It has been something I have looked into a few times and keep meaning to get a portfolio together submit.

Time to pull my finger out I think.

I can only say "Bravo" to anybody who does this. I have thought about it a lot over the last couple of years (since one of their members presented about it in DCC).

In the end I decided I wouldn't be able to do it - I'd never be able to focus through blurry eyes, in more ways than one.

But I have tremendous admiration for those who can.

    Adrian
