Dug well running dry in summer

Hey guys I was looking at a property to buy and was told the dug well runs dry at times. There is rain catchment system and tank for running toilets etc but drinking water comes from the well. From talking to one of the neighbours he bore 3 Wells and found nothing so he is attached to another neighbours supply. There is no mains or group scheme nearby, does it sound like we would need to dig further or is this likely to become great expense and heart ache? The area is Meath.

I would make lots of local enquiries. Also talk to local well borers and pump installers. You need to know where you stand before purchase.

Ask your neighbour how deep he went on the three bores. Three deep bores and no water would concern me. I would not like to be relying on rain catchment only.
