    What's your question or point?

You would expect the patient need would be examined first. Take a look at the Dublin Dental Hospital website / student clinics.

Try stringing more than one sentence together and make your point please, I am totally lost.

At a first appointment in Primary healthcare the patient's need is examined.
At a first appointment in Primary healthcare at the Dublin Dental Hospital the patient is "screened for suitability for teaching need".
It follows there is something wrong with Primary care at the Dublin Dental Hospital.

You realise it is a teaching hospital and more advanced treatment needs are not suitable cases for dental students?

    Go somewhere else then.
The primary purpose of the DDUH is as a dental teaching hospital. They exist to train students to be dentists, if they happen to do good (or bad) treatment in the process then so be it....
If you want to be the center of the dentists world then go see a qualified and competent dentist who can concentrate on treating your needs and not on learning how to be a dentist......

I do. Is this a reason not to examine the patient's need FIRST?

What does this mean. The patient goes through a number assesments before treatment in the DDH??

Were you not happy with treatment in another thread this morning http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057653665

You realize that the dental hospital is not a primary healthcare center, its a referral center and emergency department. If your looking for a general dentist go to a general dentist, there are loads of them, I hear the ones in Eastern europe are good.

It is the Dublin Dental University Hospital, not I, who say it provides Primary dental care in clinics where students are required to gain experience across the full range of dental practice.
The Hospital Establishment Order (1963) identifies “clinical services” as one of three core activities at the Hospital. In the circumstances, it is difficult for the Hospital to distance itself from Primary care, something which is not available in most Hospitals.
Prior to 2010 the needs of student and patient were harmonious; at a first appointment, a student, under supervision, would examine the patient’s need. Treatment, if needed, was always at the discretion of the Hospital. Demand for the service was controlled by longer waiting/ treatment times, penalties for non-attendance and charges. In my experience the quality of care in student clinics is superior to that in private practice. If you would like the common understanding of Primary care restored at the Hospital please text 085 1361445

Your posts are bizarre ? I haven't a clue what point you're trying to make? Treatment in Dublin Dental hospital is free I think . Treatment with qualified dentists is far from free . Not strong grounds for complaining about your "needs".
