Trying to get rid of a PUP

    The other day I started getting a pop-up ad in Whatsapp for a game called Magic Rush. The next day I realised the game had installed itself on my phone (Jiayu S3, Android 4.4). I ran Avast and that came up with nothing. Then ran Malwarebytes which reported an adware PUP in the launcher, makes sense. But when choosing to uninstall said adware.. it does nothing. It asks do I want to uninstall Trebuchet (name of launcher), I have chosen yes but it does nothing. The game installed itself again this morning. While it's not something especially malicious, it is fecking annoying.

    I have googled it, but short of re-flashing the ROM haven't been able to find any solutions. I haven't had any issues with the launcher before either, so would also prefer not to have to get rid of it..

    All help appreciated.

    You probably cant uninstall the launcher until you have another installed. Try Nova Launcher from the play store and see if you can uninstall after.

    I've tried it and still nothing. The ads are now popping up in Nova.
