No sound from Sony headphones

I bought a pair of Sony wireless headphones when on holidays and now want to use them for everyday use. Since my PC doesn't have Bluetooth, I was going to use the supplied audio cable, but I'm not getting any sound through them.

    1. The wireless aspect still works fine.
    2. The audio cable doesn't work on any device.
    3. The audio cable works fine with a pair of Bose wireless I've got in all devices including the PC

I've just noticed though that the wired cable is branded as a Bose cable, so maybe they're incompatible, but I can't imagine that's a thing. The non-working headphones are the MDR-ZX770BN, so if it is a cable issue, what sort of cable should I be looking out for (note that whatever I got with these headphones when I bought them is lost)

The cable should be std., the only time you might run into issues is when they include extras like a mic-input and/or remote control. Even then they are usually engineered such that they will be backward compatible with a simple jack.

I have a pair of those cans at work. Are you sure the power is off when you are trying to use the cable (I use bluetooth on them exclusively but afaik that was one of the caveats).
