If a post that appears on a friends timeline from another friend of theirs doesn't appear on your timeline does that mean there has been some sort of restriction put in place especially for you by the friend in question?

Unlikely. FB posts appearing on different peoples timelines is a lucky dip at times. I've often been given out to by my OH when I didn't like a post of hers. I never saw the frickin' thing so how could I?

Considering all the posts by people not everything will appear on your feed.
There is a lot of algorithms behind this and tbh it's not clear how it works.

    I wouldn't worry about it.

If you're really worried about missing posts from someone, you can put them as a starred user or on your see first list.

What shows up on your news feed seems to be increasingly random these days. Quite irritating!

And one thing that drives me mad is if I 'like' a post that's popped up (not posted by a friend but liked by them) then it immediately disappears!

I've long since given up trying to second guess fb, and it surely doesn't do a great job of second guessing me.
