Tablet storage problem

We got a cheap Lava LT-7011 from Carphone Warehouse a few months ago.

I've been able to download a couple of apps but now it's saying that storage is full. It won't even update apps. It was advertised as having 8GB storage but it seems to have some strange partitioning.

When I go to Storage it shows INTERNAL STORAGE Total space 8GB, Available 137MB

Below that is another INTERNAL STORAGE Total space 4.49GB, Available 4.48GB

I tried to find a manual or information online but I cannot find the company and no joy figuring out how to access all the storage. Running Android 4.4.2

    Any ideas?

Is there an option in storage to install apps on another partition? Is there an SD card on it? If not, try one and see can you install to that

It's an 8 gig tablet but the OS takes up 3.5 gig leaving only 4.5 gig left for you to use, then that's probably used up by apps and what not.

Go into storage on the phone and see what's using it up, then delete stuff that isn't necessary. 8 gig devices are pointless. Can you use an sd card?

    Good Sd Card, class 10
    Buy Link2sd, 2 or 3 euro
Link what apps it allows to sd card

Also heavy apps like facebook etc can use loads of room a ram,use alternative apps or even bookmarks on the launcher

I have same issue with two Amazon Fire 7's which the kids use.

They are 8gb but 4.5gb is for the OS so I used the option to move most of the games to the 32gb sd card but it is hard to keep more than 700mb free. If it gets lower than 400mb nothing will update or install so I need to clear the cache.

I will try the Link2sd app to see if it moves some of the Amazon apps to the SD card!

Sorry, I wasn't clear in my first post. The tablet is supposed to have up to 8GB of storage (minus whatever is used for the OS etc.)

I've downloaded 600MB of apps. The storage settings show there are 2 storage partitions, the 1st is where apps are stored and this is full. The 2nd shows 4.48GB available but I can't see how I can access it or change over the storage to this.

    Screenshots attached.

There is an SD card port and I have used an SD card with it but I want to to use the 4.48GB that is built in.
