Their loss is your gain. Decent reductions in place now on http://m.euroshop.rydercup.com/stores/golf/mobile/en/c/men/outerwear

Reductions of 40% from the original astronomical prices but some really nice gear.

I picked myself up a jacket that is €100 more expensive in McGuirks, albeit the McGuirks one doesn't have the Ryder Cup logo reminding you of the 17/11 defeat. If you can get over this then go ahead and treat yourself !

Ah I don't know, if it was heavily discounted it would be quite nice to have the date of the event if you were Irish. I wouldn't be paying anywhere close to top dollar for it though.

It's nice stuff. The windstopper jackets are a snug fit, so if you don't like them figure hugging, you might want to go a size or 2 up! The Gore-Tex waterproof is a bit looser. There are no pockets though in the Gore-Tex, but there are in the windstopper, 2 outside zips and 2 inside. No pockets on the sleeveless either and that is Gore-Tex waterproof. The trousers are quite light compared with my old FJ ones, so handy for the bag, but maybe not as warm. They are Goretex also, so hopefully I will be nice and dry this winter when the rains come. Honestly though, I know there is good discount, but I wouldn't pay the money for them. Don't know what the rest of the stuff is like, anything else I got is not on the website

Agreed. The other Galvin windstopper that I have is a beautiful fabric with a really nice smooth skin feel.

My current Galvin jacket is about 10 years old so I treated myself to the upgrade here given the deal. My pants are still fine and will probably do another 10 years. Can't fault the stuff myself, especially given the really lightweight material - perfect for golf.

What's the main difference between the Paclite and the regular Gore Tex jackets ? Is it just the weight ?
I assume the Paclite would be a little too light for an Irish winter (and spring/summer/autumn !!) ?

Don't know about the Paclite. This is like the one I have. It is a light jacket. Yes, it would be to light for an Irish winter. It's grand for the current weather, little chill in the air, but not cold enough for a heavy jacket. Actually ideal for golfing in but in colder weather you will need a base layer also. Maybe some battery operated hand warmers too :D I may be a pussy, but they are the business ;)
It's probably more like splash resistant than the waterproof though, it's a soft finish, so if you want waterproof, go for the GoreTex

The paclite is the best IMO - if you wear proper base and insula layers then this will keep you warm but unrestricted - I think the non-paclite ones can restrict your swing a bit. I have a short sleeve paclite and I have never been cold due to having a couple of decent layers under it
