    Welcome back Baz.

When Pix.ie dropped off I started to use Flickr again but must admit I am not a fan. Not tried 500px so would be interested in how you find it has improved.

    Still miss Pix.ie

Find 500px more active, get more feedback , and less commercial - using free version of flickr , but the add's are a tad gaudy for a visual web site/ showcase - there is no doubt flickr is still the leader and has great discussions , but 500px is catching up. I pay the annual minimum as I like the Galleries(albums) feature.

My account at Flickr was orginally a Yahoo Photos account. When it was taken over I was migrated across.

I really only use it to host images and do not get involved with the site.

I am thinking of opening a 500px account, just as another backup as I'm a little concerned as to what
can happen to flickr now that Verizon will take over.
Good thing about 500px too, is that there is some beta function that allows you just to
migrate all flickr contect direct to 500px - thank God, didn't want to re upload everything.

I use both. I tend to upload full resolution images. Flickr seems to darken them considerably versus 500px. Not good. 500px images get more views than Flickr even though I have 50% more followers on Flickr.

One drawback on 500px is I can't find how to link from it to bb's like boards.ie. it's the only reason I still use Flickr.

I´ve noticed that too with flickr, whats the story with the darkening ?

Wish they would just trust the user PP ..

I believe it may be linked to their algorithms for compression. I have talked to a few people on other forums who said they have not noticed it when they use Lightroom to resize and compress their files prior to posting to Flickr.

I will check it out when I get a chance.

I must check, but I assume originals are left alone ..

yeah, your original has "Color Space - Uncalibrated"
the resized version has "Color Space - sRGB"

Make sure both are saved with an sRGB profile and I'd bet they'll look identical tone wise at least.
