Hi i just finished a 12 month fas course, and when i went down with my letter from fas to the welfare office i was told my case has been closed as the course was over 6 months. I was given an appointment for next week to reapply for JSA. Im worried now this could affect my rent allowance too. I was never informed of this by Fas/Intreo or the welfare office when taking the course. Am i missing something here, surely nobody should then ever do a fas course.

You should challenge this decision. Best to go back immediately (don't wait for the appointment next week) and ask to speak to a supervisor about it. You should also immediately apply for Supplementary Welfare Allowance to tide you over until this gets sorted out. http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/supplementary_welfare_schemes/supplementary_welfare_allow.html

Once you start a Fas course and are paid by Fas then your jobseekers claim is closed. When the course finishes you make a repeat claim.

FAS/SOLAS should facilitate this though. Should have been organised a few weeks ago by the Tutor. Shoddy stuff TBF.

No. the tutor has a defined role, that they are paid for. It probably should be somebody's responsibility, but not their's.

It is up yourself to sign back on when your course finishes and this should have been explained to you. You might be waiting a few weeks for payment depending on the workload of DSP.
