Chimney Crown Repair Costs

Hi, grateful for any advice please.

We have water ingress in the chimney area of our 19th century single-storey stone cottage. Multifuel stove below with a flexible metal flue liner exiting at the cowl shown in the pic. Water is getting in and chimney breast is damp.

Flashing was done a few years ago and looks fine from the ground level. There is some cracking to the plaster, which has been patched in the past.

Had a fella come out, highly recommended, who has quoted to carry out repairs. I didn't get the name of the product but it sounded like "nexiflex", apparently it's €280 a bag and two bags will be required! I assume that it's some kind of heat resistant flexible cement but I'm cynical about the prices quoted for this miracle product!

He proposes to repair the chimney crown and plaster around the chimney itself for a total cost of €1000

Grateful for any advice as to what this stuff is called, opinions on the price of the job and also recommendations for tradesman in Clare, between Ennis and Kilrush.

    Many thanks
    Shaun
