Lessons at Spawell

I've recently moved to Dublin and living just a few minutes drive from the spawell range where I've practiced a few times. Will look into joining a golf club (possibly stackstown) early next year aswell.

Over the winter I'm looking into taking a few golf lessons to try kick on for next year and cut out the undoubtedly many bad habits I have.

I see on one of the walls out in the spawell there's a list of maybe 6 professionals offering lessons but I suppose I'd like a bit of information on who you'd feel is the best for my needs and what people's own experiences are with the pros out there.

I've spent the last couple of years knocking around a 4 or 5 handicap over but never got lower than that which is frustrating. I've taken lessons in the past and I've generally reacted best to pretty simple, basic instruction as opposed to anything too technical.

    Thanks in advance

Stackstown have two very good teaching Pros in Michael and Anthony.

It may well be of benefit to support the club professionals if you are joining there.

Used to use the range there quite a lot and have heard good things about Dave Lavelle, Hazel and Brendan McDaid.

I've never got a lesson from any of them but from what I've heard, Brendan may be the one to go to if you're off 4/5. I'm just going on what I've heard so best to ask for recommendations from someone who has got lessons.

I'd recommend Dave too. Young lad, Ross is also very good.

I've heard consistently excellent reports about Hazel Kavanagh.

David Lavelle is excellent, my wife says the same about Hazel, but if you are looking to get below 4 I would go with McDaid. Costs about twice as much for lessons. He has a Trackman too.

Mcdaid done group lessons at my course and people weren't impressed. I'd go with Lavelle.

Liking what I'm hearing about Lavelle so might give him a go. If he can turn me into a half decent golfer over then he'll have certainly earned his corn!

Stackstown has an offer of 15 months for the price of 12. See their website for full details.

I've been for a lesson with Ross this year. He's relatively new in the place & seems very good.

His style kind of suited me, by not being overly technical. Has gotten me more comfortable with Driver in hand again. The big slice is pretty much gone from my game, though a few pull hooks have slipped in on occasion, so I've maybe gone too far.

I've been at a group session where Hazel presented for part of it. I liked her ideas, seems to be more of an intuitive golfer who makes you think about what you're doing & understand your own swing better.

Have heard plenty positive about Dave. My Dad has been for a lesson with him & found him very good.
