Hi all! Id appreciate some advice from anyone in the know. I'm a 41 year old male searching for a position for the last 4 years. I have tried every rec. agency out there. I have found them to be ignorant etc as alot do unless your working in finance of course or IT. I returned to college in 2009 and graduated with an engineering degree-automation thinking I was bettering myself from advise given to me during the recession-which in my mind is ongoing. I have lost complete faith in colleges/government/ and the bullshoit advice the social welfare offer. Leaving Ireland is not an option-family. Previous to that I had done all menial jobs-taxi driver, bouncer, assembly operative etc. I have a new van/tools etc. What is the point in returning to college if u cant get a job with less than 5 yrs experience..... I tried courier jobs but jesus they are terrible unless u have a specific route plus drivers are treated like **** with no union,15 hr days and F all money. The only winners are the company.
I was recently diagnosed Celiac after yrs of being irritable and TBH I prob pissed some people off. Can people recover from these traps or am I destined to be a suicide number?
Id like to speak to others that have been through the systems but are still searching, or to people who are interested in setting something up(property main/ Van logistics etc).

What are you good at, what do you enjoy doing, what's your previous work experience?

I'm very adaptable but would love to work as a service engineer-medical. I have already through the jobbridge program but with little reward at the end. Good with my hands-not an office environment type of guy. I speak well, have the qualifications but as mentioned I snookered myself with my health issue and attitude without realising it at the time.

Can I ask what's the issue with your attitude. You've mentioned it twice so you obviously think it's significant.

More importantly, what's changed with your attitude?

One piece of advice I'd give based on your initial post. Stick to what's relevant. Leave the politics for another time, it detracts from your real questions/issues.

Yes true Graham. My attitude was effected by an undiagnosed health problem and TBH I had a chip on my shoulder. I prob had unreal expectations and reality does not compare. I am man enough-I think to hold my hands up to say this....its not easy. There are many people in similar situations and a whole lot worse also. I found myself being bitter to fellow citizens.
