Kitchen Re-Fit in rented apt. - what is deductible?

    Hi,

    Just wondering what the situation is in this case.

    I've gutted an old kitchen in my apt. and replaced completely, including a new cooker and hob.

    Can I write off the cost of the fit vs rental income?

    Can I write off the cost of appliances?

    Or are they both straight up capital expenditure and so not deductible?

    The normal idea is if its repairs or improvements. From the sounds of what your saying it will be capital as its a new kitchen so will all be capital. The appliances would be capital as well but in some cases if the cost is low enough you can write them off in the year. Claiming capital allowances on a €20 Kettle is rather pointless for example
