Anyone have any insight into farming in france or know anyone that made the move.
If you were to rent a dairy unit fully set up with land, buildings, livestock, Machinery I wonder what rent you would pay.

Seems to be well set up operations up for sale/rent over there.

biggest challenge would be settling into a strange location , i imagine blow ins are looked upon no differently in france than they are in ireland , dont overlook the fact that you will never be fully accepted

If your willing to move all that way I doubt that would bother you much.

The french farmers have a production cost of 35 c per litre so they have a high cost system, not sure what is causeing that high cost and maybe a good irish lad could do it cheaper but its not all roses over there either, also the french milk processers dont want to invest to process more milk and would sooner a quota system

You won't have much change outa 35c/l here either after you have paid yourself and any other labour, the tax bill and reinvested afew quid keeping the farm moving forward. Which is obviously alot more than the current milk price, just make sure ya have a tidy sfp!

    I've seen CoP of 42cpl here...nearly €15k/cow invested.
I've also seen CoP's that are equal or better than Irish.
