Hi folks,
(Sorry if this is the wrong forum).I have dabbled in UNIX/Linux in the past and want to get some certification. Does anyone have any info on exams / study materials (LPIC-1 etc). What options are there?

You could also try going for CompTIA Linux+ - along with their cert you also get, if you register, other certs for free

There are some courses here as an intro. I did the foundation course. i didnt like the course structure, but it might be a good starting point

Cant post the link but linuxacademyDOTcom is something I have used - first 7 days free. Content is excellent plus they provide access to VMs for practice

I was looking for an entry level linux certification.

I found Cisco Networking Academy,

NDG Linux Essentials (70 hours Free)
LPI Linux Essentials Professional Development Certificate $110
The course is free and initially i thought the exam for the cert was free as well turns out was $110. :pac:

So they also offer
NDG Linux I & II (140 hours $80)
to prepare for LPIC-1
LPI Level 1 Exam 102 Voucher $163.68
LPI Level 1 Exam 101 Voucher $163.68

So that would be $518 in total,
So i have finished the first course although i have not paid for the exam yet

Is there a cheaper better, way to do this?
What happens if you fail the exam?
