Bleeding clutch slave cylinder, Focus mk2 1.8 tdci

    Hi all,

Changed flywheel, clutch and clutch slave cylinder and I'm struggling to bleed the clutch. With the bleed nipple closed when I press in the clutch pedal, brake fluid comes out through the union connecting the clutch line to the slave cylinder.

If the bleed nipple is open fluid comes out through the bleed nipple. What to do? Is it normal and will it stop after I finish bleeding it?

    Thanks.

    2007-build Ford Focus Mk2 1.8 TDCI

Not normal and it won't stop after you bleed it up

You need to open the leaky union and see what's gone wrong :(

    O-ring gone ?

Pipe bent at angle to fitting ?

    not seated right ?

hairline crack in clutch slave cylinder right where pipe goes in

Basically I lost the original oring off the union. It may be stuck in the old CSC. I tried a universal oring but the same happens.

I think I need a new clutch line or oring from ford...

Common problem did you look in the old slave cylinder they usually get stuck in there.
If not a new one is the only way out of it as its a special seal not just an o ring.

Good to know Martin! You saved my day as usual! Do they sell the seal separately or do I need a whole new line?

Thanks again, good to have a Ford expert around :)
