I'm paying for my TV subscription with Virgin Media, which i won't be soon when i hook up my new .bundles to my TV.

These TV networks must be taking the pi$$ when they think they can show us repeats, old shows, sometimes years old,
And they show the same crap day after day, every week, even months later, how can they get away with that?
Are we just suckers for paying for the subscriptions? what can we do about it?

There's only so many episodes of shows out there.

Back in the day you had the discovery channel. Not 20 of them.

The problem with having so much perceived choice is it's easy to get lazy about what you watch, back in 2 channels days you'd watch things you never would bother with now.

I agree with you about the amount of repeats though.

Yea I can understand that, just a rant, but that just shows they have a poor schedule.
I am kind of lazy about flicking channels, I'm mostly looking at a page of code anyway,
The TV is for background noise, Discover use to be the most entertaining, still is good.

I watch Discovery the most when I'm home, same shows when ever you switch on.
Showing the same episodes every day, week, even months later, bad entertainment.
When I have time I'm gonna put them all into a .bundle or something, get them free.
Same as they do with those smart TV boxes, free software.

I was the same, I watch engineering or shows about cars. I now watch YouTube on the smart tv more than I watch on UPC. Im on the max package mainly for the kids shows as the basic pack has very little and and whatever she's watching is on rte/BBC mostly.

On UPC some of the discovery type programmes aren't bunched in with the others on the guide, so it's easy to overlook them. The HD ones are annoyingly separated too. Don't know why they have SD versions on the horizon platform which is standard HD on all packs and the new boxes don't even have SCART.

Well that's kind of like offering 250+ meg internet speeds when most computers can't reach 100megs.
We should be able to pick the channels we want to watch, instead of throwing us a load of repeats

What happens when you have 2 PCs, a Console, and Tablets/Phones? Your high speed connection is worth it then

I cancelled my Sky TV in 2013 and have never looked back. Old school broadcasting is going the way of DVD rental

I have no issues with broadband speeds, connect anything I want, does what I need.
I'm just gonna get myself a smart TV box or test something like plex on a usb drive.

run kodi on a device that you already have before purchasing a smart tv box(android box), just so you know what the craic is. you ll probably pull the plug on virgin when you do

Discovery has been full of cheap programming for over a decade. 90% of the "Documentary" section of the EPG is utter ****e and the people running the channels couldn't care less because they make enough from them to continue.

Plex is like your own media server, on your computer, a bit like kodi maybe, more open-source,
In the plex plugins folder you'd add .bundle folders, a .bundle might contain iptv channels etc etc.
There's an official and unofficial plugins section, I found a few with discovery but they were on-demand.
I wouldn't watch it much if it's on my computer but as a replacement for TV subscription, thinkin about it.
Didn't have time to go searching for iptv channels that I might watch, got film4, skynews, few others.

I dont even bother watching the rubbish on Discovery channel.

    Its too repetitive.

Most TV channels now rely on one or two shows to boost their channels. Especially those Discovery, History channels. Doubt there is much history on the History Channel now.
But even E4 are so reliant on The Big Bang Theory. Don't think they even showed Friends this much. It's on constantly anytime I flick through the channels.

As we speak bear grills is on for the 15th time in the past 2 weeks.
Honestly I'd watch that all day especially with shaquille o'neal, but cmon seriously,
Who ever is programming these channels and the people reselling them to us (virgin media)
They are absalutely taking the utmost piss out of us.

When I unsubscribe and have my free channels set up I'm gonna post a lot of tutorials.
