RTE app problem

    Has anyone ever experienced this:
It's the start of the month so my internet allowance has reset to zero.
Just a few minutes ago I opened the RTE app to check the live updates in the football. Within about 2 minutes my data alert went off and I checked what was going on, only to find that the RTE app has used 405mb in she space of a few minutes.
125 in the foreground and 280 in the background.

Is this just a problem with the app? Or have I missed something? Other than restricting the background data which I forgot to do.

Did you use any of the streaming features, like watching videos or listening to the radio in the app?

    Hi,
nope-or at least not that I'm aware.
When looking at the text live feed I'm not sure if any live streams start automatically? As far as I could see the app only loads maybe the last 10 minutes and then gives an option to load more updates.

no way should it be using that much data within a few minutes. There's defo something wrong.
If you're just using the news feed, then it'll be downloading the feed data and the images. 450mb in images/thumbnails is a lot, and way more than it should be using. It's probably a bug.

Out of curiosity, what phone are you using? Is it on the latest android version?

It's a HTC 1 m8, and it gets all of the released downloads.

I've put a query into rte also to see what they say.
It makes for an interesting spike on the monthly
    data usage chart anyway.

    No, I don't believe so.
With the settings updates should only happen when I'm on WiFi. Plus, 400mb is a substantial update.

Yeah just can't understand how it used so much.
