    Do I need to do the cpc test before I can get my learner permit??

    Only if you're under 21. If that's the case, you need the theory test and case studies completed in advance of applying for the permit. If you're 21 or over, all you'll need is the theory test, medical etc

    EDIT: assuming you're born in 1986 as per your username, you're grand.
